Yaz Lawsuit Update 05/17/2012: Although Bayer has indicated that it plans to start making settlement offers on the 11,000 plus Yaz Lawsuits it currently faces, new Yaz Lawsuits are still being filed. On or about April 04/24/12 Case Number 3:12-cv-20100-DRH-PMH was filed on behalf of 4 adults and one minor child. The Yaz Lawsuits were filed in the United States District of Court of Minnesota.

This Yaz Lawsuit was filed based on the following cause(s) of action: strict products liability, breach of express and implied warranty, negligence, negligence per se, fraudulent misrepresentation, fraudulent concealment, fraud, negligent misrepresentation, and unjust enrichment brought by Plaintiffs for damages associated with their ingestion of the pharmaceutical drug YAZ/Yasmin, also known generically as Drospirenone and Ethinyl Estradiol .

It has yet to be determined how many more Yaz Lawsuits Bayer will have to face. It is clear that the case is not near an end despite the fact that Bayer is already in settlement talks with a large number of plaintiffs that have already filed a Yaz Lawsuit.

Paxil News – 5/14/2012: If you were prescribed Paxil and have suffered negative side effects, please contact us today so that we can put you in touch with an attorney to advise you of your legal rights.

Paxil Lawsuit: Taking Paxil while pregnant can affect the development of the fetus. This then results in the Paxil bad side effects. Taking Paxil during the first trimester is especially dangerous. When babies are exposed to Paxil during the first trimester, they may be born with heart problems such as atrial or ventricular septal defects. These defects are holes in the wall that separates the heart chambers. Another negative Paxil side effect includes abnormalities in the development of the abdomen. A type of abdominal wall defect linked to the use of Paxil is when the intestines, liver and other organs stay outside the abdomen in a sac. In a Paxil baby, the muscles in the abdominal wall (umbilical ring) do not close properly. Once the baby is born and doing well, this side effect of Paxil will require corrective surgery.

Some of these side effects of Paxil include serious birth defects such as injuries to a child’s heart, lungs and brain. These Paxil side effects often require numerous surgeries. The burden of cost should not fall solely on the families who unknowingly became victims of the drug, but on the shoulders of the pharmaceutical company that manufactured the drug, GlaxoKlineSmith. Some side effects from Paxil found in those who used the antidepressant drug included violent behavior and suicidal impulses. Now, it is suggested there is a possibility for the development of a Paxil birth defect. Besides a baby suffering injury to the heart, lungs, brain and the spinal cord, other vital organs can also be damaged as a result of taking Paxil while pregnant. Such detrimental side effects of using Paxil while pregnant have led the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to place a stronger warning on all Paxil products.

There are some Paxil bad side effects to be fully aware of. Some of these adverse effects of Paxil include dangerous birth defects in newborns that were exposed to the drug during the first trimester of pregnancy. Not only are these Paxil birth defects debilitating for infants who unfortunately suffer from them, but it is also expensive for the children’s parents because of the medical treatments needed.

Paxil Lawsuit News: Information and News

Paxil Lawsuit: Early research studies examined the effects of Paxil and pregnancy. Studies suggested there were adverse effects of Paxil. Women who take Paxil while pregnant increase their risk of having a child with birth defects. More specifically, the risks of experiencing the side effects of Paxil, particularly heart defects, are increased when a woman uses the drug during the first three months of pregnancy. Paxil is an antidepressant drug. It falls into a class of medications known as the Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs). There are many experts that believe depression is caused by an imbalance of neurotransmitters. SSRIs are used to level out this imbalance and treat depression. Paxil has been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat depression and several other disorders. The FDA reviewed two earlier studies that showed the negative side effects of Paxil.

Paxil, and other SSRIs, are prescribed to treat depression and other disorders. It may be almost inevitable that there are some women who take Paxil while pregnant. Sometimes women will take Paxil while pregnant because of diagnosed severe depression that has not been successfully treated with a less risky medication. When this is the case, the ratio of benefits versus risks must be considered. Other times, a woman will become pregnant after she has already been taking Paxil for a period of time, but does not yet know about the pregnancy for weeks or even months.
